Biography
Experience:
Paul heads the firm’s Finance practice in Amsterdam, leading a team of lawyers who advise clients on complex domestic and cross-border finance deals. Paul acts for Dutch and international financial institutions and corporates on a range of Banking transactions, with a focus on restructuring situations. He advises corporates, sponsors and financial institutions on debt and equity restructurings, workouts, stressed and distressed reorganisations, insolvency and related litigation.
Paul spent six months on secondment to the firm’s London office in 2009.

> McDermott: representing CACIB as creditor and LC issuer in the USD 2,8bn WHOA restructuring plan as implemented in conjunction with a UK RP.
> Steinhoff International Holdings N.V.: representing Steinhoff as debtor in a €10bn WHOA restructuring plan.
> Steinhoff International Holdings N.V.: representing Steinhoff as debtor in a €14bn global restructuring through a Dutch suspension of payments process in parallel with South African scheme proceedings, using novel techniques to deliver the scheme (akkoord).
> Van Gansewinkel Groep B.V.: advising the co-ordinating Committee of secured creditors on the restructuring of this waste collection and recycling services provider’s syndicated debt facilities.
> Estro Groep B.V.: advising the co-ordinating Committee on the market-shaping financial restructuring of this child day care services provider, executed in a Dutch insolvency pre-pack.
> Vroom & Dreesmann: advising the club of Dutch lenders on the financial rescue of this Dutch department store.
> New World Resources: advising NWR on their financial restructuring.
> Royal Bank of Scotland: on the asset separation following the takeover of ABN AMRO Bank, as well as the completion of the legal demerger of ABN AMRO Bank.
