Luigia Ingianni

Biography

Luigia is an employment lawyer and policy maker with 30 years of exponential experience in labour laws, and conciliation and adjudication of labour disputes, across different countries and legal systems (common and civil law jurisdictions). She holds a Master Degree in Law, a Post-Degree Master in Human Resources and Communication, a Women in Leadership Executive Program with London Business School and is a qualified conciliator, negotiator and mediator of labour disputes certified by the International Training Centre of the International Labour Organisation (ITCILO) and trained by Harvard Law School (Program on Negotiation - PON). As Commissioner of the Employment Standards Office of the Qatar Financial Centre, in 2015 she has established the first administrative employment dispute resolution centre in the Middle East operating under the ILO guidelines – the “Commission for Conciliation and Adjudication” - and has resolved hundreds of employment disputes through conciliation and mediation. Policy maker and advocate for gender equality and women empowerment, Luigia designs innovative legislation and policies with particular focus on management of conflict in the workplace, gender equality, decent work, harassment and violence in the workplace, justice and partnerships - UN SDGs 5, 8, 16 and 17 and is also a member of the WHO working group of the World of Work Dialogue. Adjunbct Professor, Hamad Bin Khalifa University – College of Law, she is regularly invited as speaker at national and international conferences and seminars, including Chatham House, International Labour Organization (ILO), World Health Organisation (WHO), International Training Centre of the ILO (ITCILO), Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs of the State of Qatar, among others, and gives lectures at different universities including Hamad bin Khalifa University, Qatar University, Carnegie Mellon University Qatar, Georgetown University, and cooperates with the European University of Rome, HEC Paris and University of Parma on topics related to the world of work.
