Kirsten Thorne

Biography

Kirsten Thorne is the General Manager of Strategy for Corporate Affairs at Chevron. In this role she leads the execution of risk management processes, digital solutions, strategies and capacity building to address social, political, and reputational risks faced by the company. In addition, she is responsible for advancing the company’s social risk management capabilities globally. Previously, Kirsten held the position of General Manager, Legislative and Regulatory Affairs, leading the company’s public policy strategy and issues management with business segments across the U.S. Key issues under management included state and federal climate policies, domestic fuels and mobility, upstream operations, air, water and safety. Prior roles include the Manager of Global Issues and Public Policy, leading the company’s corporate responsibility practices and reporting, and emerging ESG issues management, and the Manager of Environmental Strategy, where she led the development of corporate-level environmental policy, reporting and enterprise strategies. In addition, Kirsten has more than 10 years of policy, communications and government affairs experience with Chevron’s wholly owned mining subsidiary. Her responsibilities included working extensively on mine safety, environmental stewardship, government advocacy and community development issues. Kirsten has a BA in Art from Whittier College and a JD with an emphasis in environmental and land use law from Chapman University School of Law. She is a member of the California Bar. Kirsten lives with her husband and two daughters in Northern California, near the company’s global headquarters in San Ramon.
