Biography

CEO ARAUJO IBARRA INTERNATIONAL TRADE CONSULTANTS Lawyer specialized in International Trade Law from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (Bogota-Colombia). He has specialized studies in Comparative Law from the University of Texas in Dallas and Export Promotions from the ICE in Italy. Martin Ibarra has participated in the promotion of free trade zones and special economic zones in different countries in Asia, Africa and America Latina, including the World Bank mission to advise the Chinese Government on the creation of the first economic free zone in Shenzhen in 1983. He participated and coordinated the creation of Colombia’s Ministry of Foreign Trade in 1991 (today’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism), assisting in the country’s transition to operate as an open market in international trade. With his firm Araujo Ibarra, Martín has promoted various free zones in Latin America, especially in Colombia, where he has been part of the promotion group of seven free zones that cover an area of over 600 hectares and generate together more than 40.000 direct jobs. Martín was Vice-Chairman of the World Free Zones Organization (WFZO), based in Dubai and Honorary President and founder of the Free Zones Association of the Americas (AZFA).
