Biography

I am an attorney and executive with ten years of experience in Public Policy, Government Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Communications, and Sustainability. My work with multinational corporations and consulting firms in Ecuador and across the region has focused on leading complex negotiations and crafting innovative solutions to public policy challenges across diverse economic sectors. I have collaborated closely with governments, legislatures, and industry associations, honing my analytical and strategic management skills. I hold an LL.M. in Business Law from UC Berkeley and an LL.M. in Regulation and Network Industries from the University of Bonn. With over 17 years in dispute resolution, I specialize in managing commercial and legal risks for my clients, including addressing their communication risks. My sector-specific expertise spans art, chemical industries, construction and engineering, energy (oil, gas, renewables), industrial design and materials, maritime, media and entertainment, life sciences, retail, robotics, pharmaceuticals, and regulated industries, particularly in network industries like telecommunications, electricity, and gas. I frequently handle disputes requiring specialized sectoral knowledge, including contractual disputes, antitrust/competition law issues, commercial disputes under public procurement law, regulatory matters, corporate disputes (mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures), shareholder disputes, professional associations, construction and engineering disputes, and technology transfer/licensing conflicts. Alongside my practice, I serve as a Professor of Administrative Law, Public Procurement, and Energy Law at Universidad San Francisco de Quito. I also teach at Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar and Universidad Espíritu Santo, focusing on Administrative Law, Public Procurement, Public-Private Partnerships, and Network Industries. I graduated with honors from Universidad San Francisco de Quito, holding degrees in Liberal Arts and Law. My postgraduate credentials include degrees in Tax Law and Procedural Law from Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar, a Master’s in Economic Regulation and Competition Law from the University of Bonn, and an LL.M. in Business Law from UC Berkeley. I also hold a joint degree in Governance and Public Policy from IDE Business School (Quito) and Universidad del Desarrollo (Santiago).
