Biography

Full-time mediator, with experience in over 1000 cases, including highly complex disputes, disputes with the State, and international commercial disputes. Ximena has been ranked as one of the top three mediators in Ecuador since 2021. She is founding partner of PACTUM Dispute Resolution Consulting, a firm dedicated exclusively to collaborative law through negotiation, mediation and neutral third-party assistance. Ms. Bustamante also serves as neutral in various Ecuadorian and international panels. Additionally, she is a professor at several universities in Ecuador, and has published articles and taught several courses and seminars on mediation, both in Ecuador and internationally. Ximena Bustamante serves is Senior Fellow and Regional Project Director for the Weinstein International Foundation, and Co-Chair of the Mediation Committee of the Hague Court of Arbitration for Aviation. Ms. Bustamante has acted as the National Director of Mediation at the Attorney General’s Office of the Republic of Ecuador, as Deputy Director of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Quito Chamber of Commerce, and was member of the Mediator Designation Commission for the Madrid International Arbitration Center – MIAC. Ximena graduated as a lawyer, first of her class, at San Francisco de Quito University and holds an LL.M. for Dispute Resolution from Pepperdine University
