Biography

Xavier Andrade Cadena leads the Dispute Resolution Department and co-heads the Mining Department at AVL. In 2006 he joined the International Transactions Department of Holland & Knight in Washington D.C., where he worked on M&A and financing transactions. In 2009 and 2010 he worked in the International Arbitration Department of Dechert LLP in its Paris office, where he participated in several arbitrations under the ICSID, ICC, and UNCITRAL rules. He has participated in more than 80 arbitrations in various industries as counsel or as an arbitrator under the rules of UNCITRAL, ICSID, ICC, CIAM, and the main arbitration centres in Ecuador. He has advised several of the main copper and gold mining projects in Ecuador on regulatory, contractual, corporate, and financing matters. Xavier has chaired the Ecuadorian Institute of Arbitration, has lectured International Arbitration and Economic Analysis of Law at the main universities in Ecuador, and is the general counsel of the Ecuadorian Chamber of Mining.
