Biography
She is a chemist and an attorney by the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She graduated from law school with honors with a thesis titled "Data Exclusivity of Clinical Data for Biotechnology Medicines in Mexico". Mariana holds a master's degree in top management by UNAM.
She is a Certified Licensing Professional®. She was invited to the IPR training course for practitioners specializing in patents, Japan Patent Office, Tokyo, Japan.
Has completed several courses in intellectual property.
In the area of chemistry, González has professional experience in research, including a research stay at Ohio State University (USA), in characterization of DNA bases with ultrafast laser spectroscopy.
Since 2008, Mariana have had a balanced experience in patent prosecution, IP transactional matters and litigation, both locally and abroad for multifaceted clients including universities and R&D institutions, multinational companies, public companies, governmental entities, national companies and small startups. She also served as a patent law expert in court matters and other proceedings. She has been responsible of technology protection, technology transfer and technical analysis services.
Mariana has advised on the creation and management of significant patent portfolios for public and private sectors; has rendered opinions concerning infringement/validity of patents, patentability of inventions, freedom-to-operate, and other substantive issues of patent litigation, specially in the pharmaceutical, medical devices, chemical and biotechnology fields; has provided client counseling on the Mexican patent system and all related issues; has provided client counseling on the Mexican linkage system and data exclusivity matters; has performed technological competitive intelligence studies patent landscapes focused on providing relevant information for decision-making; has advised on strategic and complex technology transactions, specially licensing, research and collaborations; has managed complex projects including several IP services directed to maximizing IP value for an organization; and has advised on IP administration and policy development.
Author and co-author of various articles and publications.
She actively participates with the main Universities and Research Centers in the country, public and private, in order to promote Intellectual Property among students, professors and researchers.
