Biography

Lucia has been a partner at SAI Derecho & Economía since October 2002, specializing in economic competition and regulated markets. Her expertise spans a range of sectors, including telecommunications, food, pharmaceuticals, auto parts, retail, iron and steel, and railroads. She has a rich history of governmental service; she was legal counsel to the Mexican government and served as the Technical Secretary to the investment negotiating team during the NAFTA negotiations. She also provided legal counsel for Mexico’s trade agreements with Colombia and Venezuela (G3), Costa Rica, and Bolivia, and participated in the proceedings for Mexico’s entry into the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). She obtained her Law Degree from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), graduating with honorific mention. Over the years, she has lectured on competition law at ITAM, Tecnológico de Monterrey, Universidad Panamericana, and Universidad Iberoamericana. Since 2010, she has been teaching economic competition at the Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas. Lucia is currently Vice-Chair of the Global Private Litigation Committee at the Antitrust Law Section of the American Bar Association.
