Jan Lasik

Biography

Jan Lasik (National Trust) (Executive Team Member, General Counsel and Secretary) Jan heads up the National Trust’s Legal and Governance directorate. He is responsible for all legal, governance and regulatory advice and risk management across the organisation. He is a member of the Trust's Executive Team and also co-ordinates and supports the work of the National Trust's two non-executive governing bodies (its Board of Trustees and its Council). The National Trust is Europe's largest conservation organisations and one of the UK’s largest charities with approximately 9,000 staff and 40,000 volunteers, and an annual income of c£680m. It is the UK’s second largest private landowner (620,000 acres and 780 miles of coastline) and one of its largest tourist/visitor operations and membership bodies (5.7m members). It is also the UK’s largest farm owner (with 250,000 hectares of land and more than 1,300 tenant farmers) and a significant residential and commercial landlord. Jan joined the National Trust in November 2018 from the Bank of England, where he worked in its Markets, Banking and Notes legal division. Prior to that he worked in private practice at two international law firms (Skadden Arps LLP and Allen & Overy LLP).
