Martin Ellis

Biography

Martin Ellis is one of the most experienced brokers in the field of Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII). During an insurance career spanning over 38 years, Martin has represented a significant number of large professional services businesses with not only UK PII requirements but for clients with exposures and with locations throughout the world. He is currently the Market Broker and Account Director for a number of large law firms and is acknowledged in the insurance market as a leading insurance practitioner in this specialist field. He has overall responsibility for the negotiation and placement of global insurance programmes and directly manages and coordinates major law firm relationships. During his career, he has represented over 70 law firms that feature in the latest “Top 100” league tables. He understands the day to day servicing requirements of large and complex businesses and is a primary C-Suite contact in relation to all risk transfer and risk management issues. Martin regularly consults on the risk issues to consider with an organisation’s growth strategy whether this is driven organically or through merger and acquisitions. Martin is Managing Director-Professional Indemnity in Howden’s Financial Lines Group (FLG) and is a member of the Howden FLG Executive Management Committee.
