Bhavik Dipak Rajani

Biography

Bhavik is an independent arbitrator and counsel with over two decades of experience in international arbitration, commercial law, and cross-border business operations. He brings practical insight from his combined industry experience and legal roles across the mining, construction, shipping, and commodities sectors. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb), Singapore Institute of Arbitrators (FSIArb), and Indian Council of Arbitration (FICA). He has acted in disputes administered under leading institutional and ad hoc frameworks including the HKIAC, DIAC, LMAA, ICA, and UNCITRAL, serving as arbitrator or counsel. He has particular experience in construction and infrastructure disputes; shareholder and joint venture matters; mining and natural resources disputes; charterparties and shipbuilding and ship management contracts; as well as complex cross-border trade disputes. He is listed as arbitrator with the SIAC (Reserve Panel), LCIA, HKIAC, ICA, RAC, DIAC, ArbitrateAD (NextGen Arbitrator), KCAB International, SCIA, SCIAHK, AIAC, LMAA (Supporting Member), and SCMA. Bhavik is also a CEDR Accredited mediator. Prior to his independent practice, Bhavik held senior advisory roles in his family’s international business in mining and commodities trading, where as general counsel he managed the legal matters including litigation, arbitration and negotiated and managed a wide range of commercial transactions and operational contracts. His transactional experience includes managing international investments for the group, negotiating offtake agreements, FOB/CFR sale contracts, charter-parties, trade finance structures, and agreements with Ports and Railways. He has also worked on mining licensing, regulatory compliance, and development of greenfield mining projects in India and Africa, including direct engagement with host governments and project contractors. Bhavik continues to serve as a Director within the family group, while maintaining his independent arbitration practice. In addition to acting as arbitrator and counsel, he provides strategic guidance to law firms entering international arbitration proceedings for the first time.
