Paula Silfverstolpe

Biography

Paula Silfverstolpe serves as a Team Leader and Investigator at the United Nations Investigative Team for Accountability of Crimes Committed by Da’esh / ISIL (UNITAD), where she leads the organization’s investigation on the use of chemical weapons by ISIL. She also serves as a Lecturer at the Swedish Defence University and Legal Advisor to the Swedish Air Force. Paula brings a wealth of experience in international criminal law, international humanitarian law and public international law. She previously served as a Legal Officer at the United Nations Office of Staff Legal Assistance in Beirut and as Legal Adviser to the EU Cap Nestor Counter Piracy programme in Djibouti. She served as Judgement Coordinator in the Chambers Section of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and as a Human Rights Officer at the United Nations Mission on Congo (MONUC) in the DRC. She was a Legal Officer at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna and served at the United Nations Office of the Humanitarian Coordinator for Iraq in Baghdad and as a Legal Officer for the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK). She started her career at the International Commission of Jurists in Geneva and in Sweden after completing her graduate studies in law at Lund University and the University of London.
