Biography

Kenechukwu is the Senior Programs Manager - Access to Justice at PPDC. Until his appointment, Kenechukwu was a lecturer and the pioneer Clinical Law Administrator at the Faculty of Law, Baze University, Abuja. He taught the Law of Evidence, Trust Law, Criminal Law, Social Justice and Clinical Legal Education at the University. He was a project officer at the Network of University Legal Aid Institutions (NULAI) Nigeria for Access to Justice and Pretrial Projects from May 2018 – January 2022. As project officer, he provided technical assistance to over 43 university law clinics in Nigeria under the NULAI Network. Worked with the team in developing and supervising projects, with particular emphasis on pre-trial detention, access to justice, street law, student law practice, Legal Aid, and community justice education. He was a huge part of the implementation team of the US Funded Reforming Pretrial Detention in Nigeria (RPDN) Project. He has received training in Clinical Legal Education (CLE) nationally and internationally. His interest in clinical legal education was aroused when he served as the head of the EBSU Law Clinic in 2015. He has also served as associate in the law firms of Kaodi Onuoha & Co, and OFY-Lawyers at various times in his legal career. He pioneered the Sabilaw on the Beat97.9Fm Abuja, a product of the SabiLaw Foundation, where he offers legal education for free to Nigerians. He holds a bachelor’s degree in law, A master’s degree in law specializing in the use of Clinical Legal education to improving Access to Justice in Nigeria. He also upon seeing the need to get properly trained as a teacher of law, obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Education. He is currently a doctoral candidate researching Access to Justice, Clinical Legal Education and Social Justice. He is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), A member of the Nigerian Institute of Management, An Associate of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), a registered teacher with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria(TRCN) and a member of the Global Alliance for Justice Education (GAJE). He is well published in both local, regional and international journals. At PPDC, Kenechukwu leads the Access to Justice Programs Team in executing the Court Administration and Case management (CACM) and the Reforming Pretrial in Nigeria (RPDN) Phase II Projects among other A2J Initiatives of the Centre.
