Biography

Thierry Tanoh,– Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. Thierry is currently an independent board member for various companies and institutions including the Azalai Hotel Group, the largest pan African hotel chain in West Africa, the Mortgage refinancing institution of the West African Monetary Union (CRRH). He is a member of the Africa Advisory Council of the Groupe Duval, a French construction and micro-finance organization and Co-Chair of the Advisory Council of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). M. Tanoh has over 32 years of financial investments (debt, sub-debt, and equity), banking, senior government, and consulting experience worldwide. Most recently he was the Minister of Oil, Energy and Renewable Energy in the Ivoirian Government. Prior to this position, Thierry was Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Economic affairs of the President of Côte d’Ivoire. Thierry spend 18 years at the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group) where his focus was poverty alleviation through private sector development. At this institution he rose to the rank of Vice-President in Charge of Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and Caribbean, and Western Europe. Thierry is keen to work with the Mercy Corps’ Board of Directors to contribute to the mission of this great institution to support the most needed. Thierry has a Bachelor in Business from Ecole Supérieure de Commerce d’Abidjan (Côte d’Ivoire), is a French Certified Public Accountant and is a 1994 graduate of Harvard Business School.
