Biography

Carolyn is a Canadian lawyer with three decades of experience in domestic and international criminal investigations and prosecutions, the greatest part as a Legal Officer and Trial Attorney at the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY). Carolyn was the component team leader responsible for the investigation, pre-trial preparation and courtroom presentation of evidence in the trial of former Bosnian Serb president Radovan Karadžić for crimes related to the shelling and sniping of civilians in Sarajevo. She was also a member of the investigations and trial teams in cases against a number of other leading political and military figures for crimes related to the conflict in the former Yugoslavia. Since 2017 her practice has involved working directly with justice, human rights and rule of law actors in different countries and with different legal cultures and history, to strengthen their responses to serious violations of international criminal and human rights law.
