Cristina Fussi

Biography

Cristina Fussi is since year 2000 a partner at De Berti Jacchia Franchini Forlani and was previously general counsel of a large US multinational group. Cristina has been practising for more than twenty years in the area of corporate, M&A and international transactional work with special expertise in cross border distressed M&A deals including lease and purchase of going concerns from distressed companies and insolvency/receivership procedures, debt restructuring and group reorganization. Cristina is frequently involved in forensic analysis and evaluation aimed at identifying actual or potential fraud and/or breach of contract by the management or the sellers in M&A transactions, including the determination of the damage. She has developed an in-depth knowledge of the industry sectors of the clients she has represented for many years, including aviation (the subsidiaries of the main French airline in a joint venture with Alitalia and the investment vehicle of the United Arab Emirates in conducting a forensic investigation following the acquisition of Piaggio Aerospace); railway transport (the main Swiss railway company); environment and water treatment (leading US and Swedish groups); machine manufacturing (Chinese listed companies buying from distressed Italian groups); construction (large Italian groups expanding their activities in Russia) and semiconductor industry (a large Japanese supplier in joint venture with an Italian-French semiconductor manufacturer); advanced materials (a large Japanese manufacturer of carbon fiber setting a facility in Italy); food (a US leading supplier and solutions provider to the foodservice buying the participation in a Brazilian producer owned by the bankruptcy of a large Italian group); engineering and construction (a Polish public customer of a large Italian engineering and construction company active in the infrastructure sector, which eventually entered into a preventive restructuring procedure, in dealing with the procedure and amending the existing agreements for the construction of a metro line in Warsaw). Cristina is a frequent speaker at conferences and a vice-chair of the IBA Insolvency Section. She is regularly mentioned on Legal500 in the Corporate and M&A practice. She is vice-chair of ASLA, the Association of Italian Associated Law Firms. She is an active member of ASLA Women and leads pro bono projects, in particular involving African countries.
