A conference presented by the IBA Product Law and Advertising Committee

The IBA World Product Law Conference is launching in 2027. The goal is to establish a global forum for product law - covering product regulation, product liability, consumer protection, brand and risk management.

The theme for the 2027 IBA World Product Law Conference is 'The Dawning of a New Age.' Product law is rapidly becoming more complex, cross-border and consequential. Technologies are developing quickly and products now move through global and online supply chains. Areas of policy focus, legislative trends, enforcement priorities and claimant strategies are increasingly international. In this dynamic environment, issues of product safety, product liability, consumer protection, brand and risk management can no longer be seen in isolation.

Companies are under mounting pressure to navigate complex regulatory requirements, defend products, and protect reputation, market access and enterprise value. As a result, products stakeholders now play a decisive role in the commercial environment, responsible for implementing compliance procedures for new regulatory frameworks, handling investigations and international product recalls, navigating business-to-business disputes, consumer claims and class actions, and weathering brand-sensitive crisis events.

The IBA World Product Law Conference is designed for practitioners who advise on product risk in regulated and consumer-facing sectors and need practical, comparative insight into how product law developments affect compliance, litigation and business strategy. It will bring together a wide range of products stakeholders, including private practice lawyers, in-house counsel and compliance personnel, engineers, regulators, insurers, academics, and technical experts.

The programme will examine product law globally with appreciation of the broad regulated industries and sectors captured by this area of law. This includes life sciences and health, automotive and mobility, consumer products and retail, food, beverage, cosmetics and supplements, chemicals and packaging, tech, software and AI, and industrial, energy and infrastructure products.

Attendees will make new connections, joining a global products law community to share best practices and leave with a stronger understanding of how to navigate product issues in multiple jurisdictions.
