A webinar presented by the IBA Academic and Professional Development Committee, supported by the IBA Future of Legal Services Commission, IBA Young Lawyers’ Committee and IBA Professional Wellbeing Commission.
There is a paradigm shift in what is expected from lawyers from society in general, and from clients in particular. Lawyers are not only seen as holders of legal knowledge, but advisors expected to demonstrate skills that might not have been seen as important in their legal education.
This webinar will explore differing views of practising lawyers and legal professional development specialists on the ideal balance of technical legal knowledge and ‘lawyering’ skills for lawyers. The panel will offer varied perspectives of different generations, jurisdictions and practice areas, and will consider the impact of technology to reach conclusions on this issue. The panel will also offer the most relevant lawyering skills in 2024 and suggest ways of mastering these skills.
