Message from Kimitoshi Yabuki, BIC Chair, March 2021
Thursday 8 April 2021
Dear BIC Friends,
The IBA Mid-Year Meeting will be taking place virtually this year across the month of May. In order to note important dates in your calendars, please see the following meetings that we would like to highlight as being of interest to bar representatives:
19 May: BIC Bar Leaders' Forum (11:00 – 13:00 BST)
This is the opportunity for Member Organisation representatives to be updated on the status of ongoing projects in which the IBA is involved, and specifically those that touch on sensitive areas for bar associations and law societies. It will also allow them to find out what work is being planned and propose subject matter and programmes for future activities within our very dynamic BIC.
25 May: IBA Open Forum (11:00 – 13:00 BST)
All officers of IBA sections, committees, fora, and bar representatives are invited to attend this meeting.
27 May: IBA Council meeting (11:00 – 14:30 BST)
The IBA Council is the governing body of the IBA, having the general control of the affairs of the IBA and passing, as required, resolutions and guidelines for members and the legal profession worldwide. The President/Chairperson and IBA Council Member from each Member Organisation are entitled to attend the IBA Council meeting.
28 May: BIC Bar Executives Programme (13:00 – 14:30 BST)
This programme is for Chief Executive Officer’s, bar association executives, international liaison officers and others who are responsible for the day-to-day running of their association and international project work. It is a programme designed by our ‘Bar Executive Officers’ Committee.
Further details will be circulated regarding these meetings in the coming weeks.
Best wishes,
Kimitoshi Yabuki
Chair, Bar Issues Commission (BIC)
