Webcast and Q&A with Viviane Reding MEP
The IBA’s first live webcast of 2015 featured Viviane Reding MEP, former EU Vice-President and the first Commissioner responsible for Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship. It was broadcast live on 17 March 2015 from the European Parliament.
The webcast reflected the broad remit Viviane Reding has enjoyed as a senior member of the European Parliament, and covered digital identity, data protection, international trade and more. The interview was conducted by former CNN broadcast journalist Todd Benjamin.
As Commissioner for Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship, Viviane Reding put in place the foundations for a European area of justice through implementing ground-breaking proposals in the fields of civil, commercial, consumer and criminal law. She also initiated an EU framework to strengthen the rule of law, creating the basis for a ‘fundamental rights culture’ across European institutions. Her current role is Rapporteur for the Trade in Services Agreement.
