Dear members of the IBA Securities Law Committee,
We are pleased to publish this new e-Bulletin containing articles on a variety of interesting topics from the world of securities law.
The Covid-19 pandemic has not only affected the lives of each of us dramatically, but has also affected the activities of the International Bar Association, including our Securities Law Committee. We look back fondly on last year’s conference season, especially the conferences in Berlin, Germany, and Seoul, South Korea, and miss the lively panels, fruitful discussions and exciting meetings with friends from all over the world.
Because of the Covid-19 crisis, we had to postpone both the 4th IBA Asia-based International Financial Law Conference, which had been planned for February 2020 in Tokyo, Japan, as well as the 37th IBA International Financial Law Conference, due to take place in May 2020 in Venice, Italy.
Thank you to all of you who helped to prepare the cancelled conferences. We are trying to be as active as possible during the Covid-19 crisis. We have already planned the conferences for next year and hold our officers’ meetings via telephone and videoconferencing. A recent, special activity of the Committee was to prepare a five continent overview on public issuers Covid-19 relief measures, which has been published on the IBA website. Our special thanks go to the editors and contributors – well done!
We invite all of you to stay active and in contact with us. If you would like to submit an article or any other material relating to securities law issues for inclusion on the Committee’s publication pages, please email them to Vivian Lam at vivianlam@paulhastings.com for consideration. We also welcome any suggestions that you may have on how the Committee can do more for its members in this special situation and in general.
Take care and I hope we have a chance to meet soon.
