Webcast and Q&A with James Palmer, Senior Partner, Herbert Smith Freehills
The second IBA webcast of 2015 featured James Palmer, Senior Partner, Herbert Smith Freehills, and was broadcast live on 24 April. The interview was conducted by former CNN broadcast journalist Todd Benjamin.
The webcast covered law firm management and strategy, including the role of senior partner, remuneration and retention, diversity in leadership and international expansion. It also covered Palmer’s extensive background in corporate law and governance, for example his involvement in developing the UK’s takeover regime and its Companies Act 2006, and his views on shareholder engagement, directors’ duties and the purpose of corporate governance following the financial crisis.
James Palmer is a prominent UK corporate lawyer and currently chairs the FCA’s Listing Authority Advisory Panel, and until December 2014 chaired the UK Takeover Lawyers' Expert Group. Palmer was appointed Senior Partner and Chair of the Global LLP Council at Herbert Smith Freehills following a partnership vote, which took effect from 1 February 2015.
