Mary Robinson on populism, climate justice and human rights

Following the UK's Brexit vote and the election of President Trump in the US, Mary Robinson, President of Ireland 1990-1997 and a former United Nations Special Envoy for Climate Change, outlines her concerns over the rise of populism and the implications for climate justice.

Robinson – the recipient of the 2016 Stockholm Human Rights Award for advancing international justice and respect for human rights – assesses the pressing need for global action to tackle climate change and the unfolding humanitarian crisis in certain developing countries.

She also talks about the November 2016 UN climate change conference, steps to implement the Paris Agreement, as well as the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and the role of societies and business in driving sustainable development.
