Message from the ERF Co-Chairs
Dear friends,
With 2026 well underway, we would like to share the energy, ideas and purpose that underlined our recent IBA European Regional Forum Officers’ and Council Members’ Retreat in Turin and set out the drivers of our work in the year ahead.
Turin retreat
Our gathering in Turin was both inspiring and productive. Bringing together officers from across jurisdictions and practice areas, the retreat reaffirmed the strength of the ERF community: collaborative, forward-looking and deeply engaged with the evolving legal and business landscape across Europe.
We had thoughtful discussions on how the Forum can continue to deliver value to its members in a rapidly changing environment. Key themes included strengthening cross-border dialogue, enhancing member engagement and ensuring that the ERF remains a dynamic platform for both established practitioners and the next generation of lawyers.
Perhaps most importantly, Turin reminded us that the ERF’s greatest asset is its people and their willingness to contribute, innovate and connect.
2026 focus
1. Deepening member engagement
We aim to create more opportunities for meaningful interaction across the ERF − through our conferences, webinars, publications and informal networking. A particular focus will be placed on ensuring that members across all regions are represented and actively involved.
2. Strengthening cross-border collaboration
The ERF is uniquely positioned to facilitate dialogue across jurisdictions. We will continue to aggregate and compare perspectives and practical insights on legal developments affecting our firms across Europe, as well as European businesses and beyond.
3. Expanding the ERF's reach
We will gear up our efforts towards broadening participation across Europe and neighbouring regions, ensuring diversity of perspectives and strengthening the ERF’s global relevance.
Looking ahead
The ERF will continue to serve as a platform for connection, knowledge-sharing and professional development − grounded in the values of collaboration, inclusivity and excellence.
We would like to thank all council members and officers and for their continued commitment and contributions. Your engagement is what makes the ERF a vibrant and impactful community.
We look forward to working together in the year ahead.
With best regards,
