Dr Mark Ellis keynote speech at the ASIL mid-year meeting
At the recent American Society of International Law (ASIL) mid-year meeting, Dr Mark Ellis gave the keynote lecture. He focused on the rise of nationalism and populism around the world, with emphasis on President Trump's betrayal of the US's role in shaping the rule of law. He recounted his 10th trip to Ukraine since the full-scale invasion by Russia in February 2022, visiting memorials to the fallen on each visit and reflecting on the violations of international law by Russia. He also highlighted the role President Trump has played in not only tolerating but endorsing Putin's actions.
