In this interview, Mohamed Nasheed, former President of the Maldives and a passionate environmentalist, discusses climate change and justice. President Nasheed shot to global fame in 2009 after holding the world’s first underwater cabinet meeting to raise awareness about climate change, and in 2011 was made the subject of the critically acclaimed documentary ‘The Island President’. President Nasheed, a trained marine scientist, discussed the threat to the Maldives’ very existence from rising sea levels, and covered issues including forced migration and food security, renewable energy, and the role of the law and lawyers.
