SUMMARY:Presentation by University Libre de Bruxelles and Vrije Universit
 y Brusssels
DESCRIPTION:Despite growing scientific consensus on climate and environme
ntal challenges and extensive regulatory developments in recent years\,
the implementation and enforcement of ESG accountability frameworks face
significant headwinds globally. Companies operating cross-border projec
ts confront conflicting ESG standards\, extraterritorial regulations\, a
nd asymmetric enforcement regimes\, whilst states grapple with the limit
s of traditional policy tools in driving meaningful corporate accountabi
lity. Simultaneously\, ESG-related litigation is emerging as a powerful
enforcement mechanism\, with courts increasingly called upon to adjudica
te climate obligations\, supply chain due diligence failures\, and green
washing claims.\n\nAgainst this background\, this session explores ESG a
ccountability from four complementary perspectives: international normat
 ive frameworks\, state-level mechanisms\, corporate obligations\, and ju
 dicial enforcement.\n
