SUMMARY:Effect of technology on law and access to justice
DESCRIPTION:The legal profession stands at a pivotal crossroads. Millions
of individuals worldwide navigate the complexities of the legal system
without adequate representation\, facing outcomes that are often determi
ned not by the merits of their cases but by their inability to access qu
alified legal counsel. At the same time\, artificial intelligence is res
haping nearly every sector of professional practice\, and the legal prof
ession is no exception.\n\nThis continuing legal education programme bri
ngs together an interdisciplinary panel of legal aid practitioners\, tec
hnology innovators\, access-to-justice advocates\, and legal ethics expe
rts to examine how AI tools are being deployed and how they should be de
ployed to assist in closing the widening justice gap. The programme will
provide attorneys with a practical\, critically informed understanding
of AI-assisted legal tools\, their demonstrated benefits for pro se liti
gants and under-resourced legal service organisations\, and the professi
onal responsibility framework that must govern their use.\n\nThe program
me is designed to be solutions-oriented. It acknowledges that AI present
s genuine opportunities to extend legal services to communities historic
ally left behind by the justice system\, while also confronting the bias
\, risks\, limitations\, and ethical obligations that responsible adopti
 on demands.\n
