SUMMARY:Keynote speech: The growing constitutionalisation of rights to a
 healthy environment
DESCRIPTION:This keynote will examine how the right to a healthy environm
ent is rapidly emerging as a constitutional principle and reshaping clim
ate litigation. Courts are increasingly using constitutional guarantees
to evaluate government action on climate change and to expand standing—e
specially for young people—challenging policies that disregard broader c
limate impacts. Recent cases in Montana\, Wisconsin\, and Hawaii illustr
ate the growing influence of state constitutions in this area.\n\nBeyond
the United States\, a wider global shift is underway as jurisdictions r
ecognise environmental well-being as a fundamental right and\, in some i
nstances\, extend legal protections to natural features and ecosystems.
These developments are transforming how environmental responsibilities a
re defined and enforced\, signalling a pivotal evolution in climate gove
 rnance and future legal strategy.\n
