DESCRIPTION:Meaningful engagement with Indigenous groups and local commun
 ities and working toward obtaining FPIC is made more challenging by vari
 ations in approach and standards.\n\nThis session will:\n\n• Feature leg
 al experts with real-life experiences representing clients who have cond
 ucted human rights and environmental due diligence and local community c
 onsultations.\n\n• Share lessons on Indigenous consultations in the cont
 ext of Free\, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) and other community-base
 d engagement as prescribed by the UN Guiding Principles on Business and 
 Human Rights (UNGPs)\, the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Pe
 oples and other international standards.\n\n• Examine how interpretation
 s of FPIC vary from country to country and region to region.\n\n• Share 
 best practices on gathering and reporting on what is often considered to
  be subjective data.\n
